Shailene Woodley is an American actor and activist. As a character in The Descendants, she played Alexandra King who is an addiction-prone teenager. Apart from the well-respected performance she delivered in The Descendants, Shailene has performed several roles which showed off her talent for portraying tough characters easily. Shailene managed to establish herself in Hollywood at a young age in her career, which in and of itself is quite an accomplishment. She started her career on television and commercials, before moving on to Hollywood movies. A number of awards have been taken home by her because of her impressive acting. She's also been nominated for other high-profile awards like BAFTA Awards, Golden Globe Awards as well as Primetime Emmy Awards. Together with her mother, Shailene Woodley founded All it Takes a non profit organisation in the year 2010. The year after, she was recognized with an Entertainment Industry Environmental Leadership Award at the 20th Anniversary Global Green Environmental Awards for co-founding the All it Takes organization.
